Adolescents, as well as the adults who love and work with them,  experience an incredible amount of stress throughout their daily lives. Teens and adults alike are often unable to identify the subtle, yet substantial effects of these stresses, which can impact their functioning in a variety of ways. For adolescents, this can include decision making, attendance in school, academic performance , interpersonal skills communication. Stressful conditions—in and out of the workplace—can lead adult individuals to feel overwhelmed, burned out, and not experiencing the best quality of health and life. Studies have shown that practicing mindfulness, even for just a few weeks, can bring a variety of physical, psychological, and social benefits. Understanding the effects of trauma, practicing mindfulness, and learning effective self-care tools can assist in regulating the nervous system and returning the brain to a healthier state that is hardwired to help individuals manage stress more effectively throughout their lives. As an educator with 20 years of teaching experience, it is my desire to assist schools, organizations, and employers by offering wellness support and partnering with them to create a more mindful environment to improve the well-being of all members of the school community and workplace.
